Governor McAuliffe signed the certified surgical technologist legislation, Senate Bill 2014 328, into law.  Surgical technologists and surgical assistants are now officially a part of the Commonwealth Code of Law!  Senate Bill 328, which was passed unanimously in March 2015 in the legislature (all Senate and House Delegate committees and on the floor) and signed into law by Governor McAullife on April 3, 2014.  The bill was the subject of compromise with the Virginia Hospital Association, which had opposed and defeated prior legislative initiives in 2011, 2012 and 2013.  However, in 2014, the strength of our grass roots, sponsor and legislative professionals caused us to succeed in passing the bill.  Thank you Virginia CSTs and VA Surgical Assistants for your commitment to this process.
